Gasoline Blending Plus

False Blending Values

Experienced gasoline blenders can arrive at blending values which work well for planning and making a blend in the refinery.  They sometimes find that the blending values do not work will when the composition changes appreciably.  This situation can arise because of compensating errors.

If the blending value is too high for one component and too low for another, the blend calculation can be reasonably accurate as long as the composition doesn't change too much.

Use of such blending values in estimating optimum compositions can be expected to result in estimates deviating widely from the true optimum composition.
